810-360-3896 - Jim Selleck, Tuner/Technician
Prompt, courteous, accurate piano tuning, repair and rebuilding services in Southeast Michigan since 1977.
My primary service area is Livingston County, South Lyon, Milford, and Ann Arbor. I am happy to work with you if you live more distant, but please be aware that there is a time and mileage surcharge for any trip longer than 20 driving miles from my home in Hamburg Township, south of Brighton.
First-time callers are often concerned about the age of their piano; whether it is still serviceable after a certain number of years. I tell them 'pianos age just like people.' A fifteen year old piano is still a kid and should be in nearly perfect condition. A forty-five year old piano is in the prime of life and I would expect few (if any) issues. I don't expect to see serious problems requiring a lot of repairs until a piano is more than age 60. Nevertheless, just as with a human body, if it is abused or neglected, problems can and will occur earlier and with greater severity.
Payment terms: Checks are gratefully accepted. Cash is preferred.
Billing available to institutional clients under contract only.
A few reviews from great customers. Left on Google and Facebook
We were very pleased! Jim arrived when he said. He did a great job tuning the piano after many years of being out of tune and he made it sound as it should. In addition we found Jim to be fun to talk with, knowledgeable and he was gracious enough to pay a couple tunes before he left.
~ Jan G. - South Lyon, MichiganJim was awesome! He tuned and worked on all three of our pianos in one day including one that was badly in need of some love after going several decades untouched. Jim is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, organized, and will even take time to get to know your dogs 😀. I highly recommend using Jim and I look forward to doing so in the years to come!
~ Larry F. - Davisburg, MichiganWhere do I begin? Great service and a great price, punctual, friendly, thorough, and clearly experienced, sure, but more as well. Jim was a joy to have at my place, and how often can you say that about a service provider? He carefully took everything apart and even more carefully inspected everything in need of repair. He did not rush. As the piano began to be more in tune, beautiful songs began to fill our home. His repair process included an absolutely wonderful and random selection of classic rock hits, bar tunes, and holiday favorites. I couldn’t believe it. When the piano was fully repaired and perfectly tuned, a flurry of improvisational jazz erupted out of nowhere. I joked that he needed a tip jar. Not only will I be using Jim’s service again, the next time I do, I’ll be sure to invite guests! Unbelievable service and value - 10/10.
~ Brian R. - Brighton, MichiganJim came to my home to tune an antique baby grand we recently got. He took health/safety precautions (May 2020), and did an excellent job with the tuning. The piano was so out of tune and so old that he had warned it might be more expensive than a regular tuning. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a basic charge, nothing extra. My conclusion: Jim is ethical and will not overcharge. Also, after the tuning, he played some cool 70s tunes on the piano. He was pleasant, professional and fun! I highly recommend him.
~ Angela P. - Hamburg Township, MichiganI highly recommend Jim. He doesn't back away from a challenge, and he will provide a realistic set of expectations for the outcome of the tuning. I've been pleased with both of the tunings Jim has performed for us on two very different pianos.
